Your First Visit
On your first visit with me, you’ll fill out a history and complaint form. We’ll talk about your health history, both present and past.
I like to know as much as I can about you. Your physical complaints are important, and knowing about your stress level and your activities can help to point to the cause of your condition. I do not see a set of symptoms as separate from other parts of your body and lifestyle.
Next I will examine you, which will include an evaluation of your posture, flexibility, and ranges of motion. I do an orthopedic and neurologic exam, followed by chiropractic-specific, bio-mechanical testing, including spinal and extremity motion palpation. These exams enable me to reach a diagnosis and understanding of how you function.
If you have brought images such as radiographs, scans or reports, I will review them after completing my exam. If you do not have images we may, based on your exam findings, need to request images to be taken. I don’t always require images to do my work. If it’s appropriate based on our exam and history findings, we can often start treatment on the first visit.
I’ll start giving you exercise and postural training immediately, even during the first exam as many of your complaints may be the result of poor posture and muscle imbalances.
Appointments generally last a half hour.
